An on-demand technology that can produce highly complex parts

Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) can produce highly complex parts because the process builds one layer at a time, which means that even products with movable parts are possible. Furthermore, these specifications can be built into the CAD file, instead of incurring post-production assembly charges.


DMLS is made possible by sophisticated equipment developed by EOS, an e-manufacturing company. rp+m uses their proprietary equipment: the EOSINT M-280 machine.


The M-280 machine fabricates parts by laser sintering a bed of powder metal using a 400 watt laser. The build volume of this machine is 250 x 250 x 325 mm (9.85 x 9.85 x 12.8 in).
