Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is an additive manufacturing technology that can create complex configurations because it builds items layer-by-layer using engineering-grade thermoplastics.

 

The materials used for FDM are similar to those used for traditional injection-mold processes, which means that parts can often be tested according to environmental conditions in which the part will ultimately need to be tested.

 

With FDM we can create parts that are less expensive from a total cost perspective than traditional injection-molded parts by eliminating the need to invest in tooling. We can create prototypes extremely quickly−often within a few hours or a day.
